Privacy Policy

Draft. Bare Bones Cooking has not launched and no accounts exist yet. This page describes intended data handling and is not legal advice; it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It will be finalized before sign-up opens. Bracketed items are placeholders to be filled in before launch.

What we collect

When you create an account and use the Service, we hold:

  • Your email address and display name
  • Your IP address, in server logs
  • The recipes you import: source links, extracted ingredients, steps, and other recipe fields
  • Images you upload (photos of recipe cards, cookbook pages, and similar)
  • A billing identifier from our payment processor

We do not collect or store payment card numbers. Those are handled entirely by our payment processor.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of processors to run the Service:

  • Microsoft Azure, for hosting, database, storage, and identity
  • Anthropic, to extract and format recipe content from the links and photos you submit
  • Stripe, to process payments for the paid tier
  • Google (AdSense), to serve ads on the free tier and on some pages of this public site

When you import a recipe, the page content or image you submit is sent to Anthropic for processing. This is how extraction and formatting work; it is not an incidental use.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share your recipe library with other users. Nothing you store is public.

Cookies and ads

Ads are served through Google AdSense, which may set cookies or use similar technology as described in Google's own policies. On this public site, some pages show ads to every visitor. Inside the Service, ads appear only for the free tier; the paid tier removes them. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are shown Google's consent message before any personalized ads or ad cookies are used, and can change their choice at any time from the link in that message.

Your rights

Access. You can see everything we hold about you through your account page and the export feature.

Export. You can export your full library as JSON or Markdown. This is a paid-tier feature, except where data portability rights under law (such as the GDPR, for users in the EEA) require it regardless of tier.

Deletion. You can delete your account at any time from the account page. This revokes access immediately. Your data and uploaded images are permanently removed within 30 days, except records we are required to retain for tax or legal purposes.

Age

The Service requires users to be at least 13 years old, or 16 where local law requires it. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the Service develops. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date before they take effect.
